Jamie's sister has always been a part of our deliveries to hospitals but felt left out as she has her own chronic medical condition and takes daily medications for allergies and asthma. She is the type of severe asthmatic that is affected by colds. Once she contracts a cold, she crashes fast and has to be put on two rescue medications and pending how she reacts, an immediate visit to the doctor or the hospital. She was intubated in 2008 and wasn't expected to survive when her first cold induced asthma attack struck. After numerous hospitalizations and doctor visits, she understood how hospitals were boring and how all the procedures, tests and visits were scary. We decided to create Angels4Epilepsy, Inc. & Asthma Too to bring the focus on other children too. Of course, now I have to go through and change the official paperwork and so forth but here we go!
The girls love horses and dogs so we are using Build-A-Bear and Kohls Cares for Kids merchandise to also bring awareness to some rescue missions we are fond of. One is the Connecticut Labrador Rescue, Inc. and the other is Mississippi Horses. We hope to bring light to the wonderful work they do with animals that kids really love. In case you didn't know, dogs and horses can have epilepsy and asthma.
